The project seeks to document the role of security agencies in the protection and fulfilment of certain human rights violations related mainly to torture and refugee protection, which occur in Lebanon, and as such will seek to propose evidence based reforms that would exclusively target the security sector by providing realistic solutions in line with international human rights principles. The approach that will be used is highly participatory and will seek to enhance the role of Lebanese Civil Society Organisations and Law Enforcement agencies in the debate on security sector reform. Additionally ALEF will seek to build strong alliances with CSOs to better engage with security agencies, which will allow ALEF to sustainably achieve the set objectives.
